This Western-style building is not only Two Guns' flagship location but a symbol of third-wave coffee in the South Bay. Prior to the bullseye branded cups, specialty coffee really hadn't taken off in this part of Los Angeles—not until two kiwis who "wanted to bring a little bit of their homeland in New Zealand to L.A.", set-up shop in 2011, expanding to five locations across the city to date. Co-Owner Andrew Stanisich (for which the popular "stan-wich"* is named after) is accredited with introducing the "flat white" to the beach cities of Los Angeles. It caught on, and we thank him.
Two Guns serves their own premium espresso, a two-bean blend developed with Dillanos Coffee Roasters. Head inside and place your order—they'll holler your number when it's ready. Bring a book, or a friend, or your date, because the personality of this cafe is all about basking in the simple pleasure of enjoying a cup of coffee in good company. Plus, no WiFi or outlets. That doesn't mean you'll never see a laptop here, but locals have slowly adopted and embraced a "put your phone down and say hi to your neighbor" mentality.
*Regulars love devouring the "stan-wich": fried egg, pesto, arugula, tomato, pretzel bun (although I gravitate towards the a la carte menu).
I like to spend time in the adjacent retail shop/art gallery, Suite 6, which connects to the main cafe through a Joanna Gaines-enviable carriage door. Anchored by a long wooden communal table, this gathering space—thoughtfully curated by Two Guns Co-Owner, Natalie—is filled with potted plants, coffee instruments, cards and perfume, rotating artwork, and tunes that pour from a handsome Marshall speaker.
Insider Tips: This is my go-to coffee shop for when I need a caffeine pick-me-up and something thoughtful to gift a host or friend's birthday. Check their Instagram for "Bean Week" announcements, which mean that all bags of (12oz) beans are just $10. The line can get pretty lengthy here, especially during the morning, so take advantage of their free mobile app and skip the line.
HOURS 6:00-5pm Mon-Fri; 7:00-5pm Sat & Sun COFFEE MENU $3 (brewed coffee) — $4.7 (dona chai latte)
